So Bully Ray is still making appearances in Ring Of Honor after his WWE Hall of Fame induction. Just about a year ago he was ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions with The Briscoes as a good guy. But now Bully Ray has been interesting the past couple of weeks after a heel turn.

Basically (for those who haven't followed it) a few weeks ago Bully Ray was asked by a wrestler called Cheeseburger (yes, the wrestler's name is Cheeseburger, a young skinny kid) to be his tag team partner at the recent SuperCard of Honor pay per view. Bully responded by attacking Cheeseburger and giving a speech that he resented being put on the spot and that Cheeseburger represents everything wrong with the new generation who is "entitled." He then put on his WWE Hall of Fame ring and said that this ring makes him better than everyone in the arena.

Then on this week's show he came down in the middle of a match between Eli Isom and Cascade and beat them both up (doing what Diesel did to Skip and Savio Vega in 1995), gave a similar speech, until he was confronted by Cheeseburger who called him a "piece of shit." Bully beat the crap out of him, put on his WWE Hall of Fame ring, and held up a middle finger with the hand it was on.

I do think it's a good storyline and it's really brilliant that he is using his WWE Hall of Fame ring as a prop so to speak in Ring of Honor.

But my only confusion is, and I know the WWE is cool working with Ring of Honor and doesn't see them as "competition", but I was of the understanding that upon induction in the WWE Hall of Fame, the inductee has to agree to a no compete clause for so many days. The Dudleys were just inducted this year. Does he get around it by just making appearances and not actually "wrestling", or did the WWE dispense with their no compete clause? I was just wondering if anyone knew.

Either way Bully Ray is one of the most interesting things going on in Ring of Honor right now.

I would say that bubba and Vince have a good enough relationship that Vince didn't have an issue letting bubba go back to ROH.

They had to have known what Bubba was up to, and were cool with it. TBH I see this more as Bubba helping out the little guys. There is a lot these guys can learn from him.

He's not out trying to make a name for himself, he's been in an advisory role for a long while and I think this is all that is about.

So am i missing something here?

Are you not allowed to compete in any federation ever again once you become a HOF'er within WWE?

I thought the sort of unwritten rule was that guys only generally made the HOF when they were pretty much done with in ring stuff for the WWE.

That's usually been the case, that's what got so many people pissed off at Ric Flair for so many years after he retired and then almost immediately showed up to wrestle in TNA.

Then again he also said he was retiring. Bubba Ray did say the Dudley Boys were retiring, but seeing as Devon is now a producers for the WWE, it seems the Dudley Boys are well and done. Bully Ray however has a little gas left in the tank to do odd jobs here and there, it seems.

When Ric Flair went to TNA it seemed like a big deal at the time because TNA was getting this aura to them that they could continue building to the point they might be able to really and truly compete with WWE, and Flair just seemed like another weapon to use against WWE. That all fell apart obviously, but with Bully Ray it just seems like he's keeping busy in an indie fed that can only dream of chasing WWE's coat-tails for no less than 10 years at best before it can consider trying to be competition. Not only that but Bully Ray may be a draw but he's not Ric Flair, either.

So to me, I think that's the beginning of the whole controversy with Ric Flair's actions followed by how it's different with Bully Ray.

No, it was only a 90 day no compete clause. It makes sense as the WWE didn't want someone who just got inducted in their Hall on a world wide stage working somewhere else the week after.

That was one of the reasons The Honky Tonk Man declined a WWE Hall of Fame induction at least once. He would have had to have abided by a 90 day no compete clause, and he made more money working independent shows than he would have been paid for a WWE Hall of Fame induction, which would have been a one off.

But I guess they since dispensed with the clause; and the WWE seems cool with what Bully is doing.

Like I said it is a good storyline. On the last ROH show Bully Ray claimed he is "unretired."

Bully Ray benefits from real good heel heat by using the HOF ring as a I am too good for this small time promotion heat.

E benefit by their ring giving them publicity in another company.

ROH benefit from being linked to the biggest company in the profession, through the ring.

Nobody loses from this. Everyone wins. Great idea.

Only the One Ring has the power to link ROH to WWE. Tongue
