Think about it, he's a smart guy, and nobody gets out of the Hell's Gate, so he tapped before he caused himself some serious damage. Just like Jericho did to the STF-U a few weeks ago on RAW.

How does Punk know he couldn't get out? He didn't even try. Wouldn't he at least attempt a bit longer to try and be the first person to escape?

He's happy with "Three time straight edge World Heavyweight Champion", he doesn't need "First man to escape Hell's Gate". Fact of the matter is, in his mind, he's made Taker tap out before, and nothing was on the line in that match, he doesn't need to prove himself to anybody, as being a three time World Champ and making Taker tap is all he needs to be the greatest wrestler this side of the Attitude Era. No point risking injury when you can go about furthering your already massive legend.

Kayfabe dictates that CM Punk is a smart motherfucker. I bet he knows why they don't have Quarter Pounders in France too.

Shawn Micheals had broken the hold either in the first wrestlemania match or second.

In the first match between Taker & HBK at 'Mania, Shawn was put in the hold and he ended up dragged Taker so he could grab the ropes.

Yet again The Undertaker totally decimates CM Punk. Anyone get the thought that selfish Taker doesn't like Punk?

CM Punk is a smart guy, but booking like this makes him look anything but one.

The two could have had a decent 10-15 match, but instead the moment was wasted in a clusterfuck.

It would appear so according to the dirt sheets last yr -

Quote Word going around the WWE locker room is that the reason CM Punk lost the World Heavyweight Title last night is because of heat on him stemming from an incident on the recent European tour, according to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The story goes that there was in issue with how Punk was dressed, and The Undertaker tried to nicely tell Punk that he was the World Champion and was representing WWE overseas so he should dress better. Punk said something to the effect of "what about John Cena?"

This got back to WWE management and they took it as Punk thinking he was a bigger star than John Cena. Then the decision was made to take the belt off Punk at Hell in a Cell and put the match as the opener. There are a couple versions of the story going around, but which ever one is being told, the end result remains the same.

The problems with Punk has been the talk of the SmackDown locker room for the past two days. There are some who are wondering why Undertaker was given the title considering his limited schedule and health problems with the feeling that it was too soon to take the title off Punk.

*Keep in mind that these 'CM Punk in the doghouse' stories are as permanent a fixture on dirt sheets as 'Rey is unhappy' and 'Cena to turn heel'.

I would like Taker to start putting over more guys with clean wins like he does with his buddy Kane. Hes getting old and broken down, even the commentators sell that now, so it would make sense to limit his no-selling and such. Not that he has to become a jobber to the stars, that would be idiotic, but find a balance between giving a few guys the rub of beating the legendary Taker, while still preserving his top guy status that he needs to sell his Wrestlemania matches.

It was more to do with his build up to his match with Kane at HIAC, thus why Taker buried Punk, also the fact that he had Bearer by his side thus regaining all his powers... If WWE had Punk beat Taker in that match, then it certainly make the challenger of World title look weak.

Nothing but depressing that this will take place because........

1) Punk will be expected to carry the once a year cripple.
2) Punk will go 0 and 3 in pay per view matches in 2013.
3) It's a recent fued with it only happening back in 2010 anyway so it's not fresh.

Its 21-0 and not even in question - had it have been cena v taker i might have believed the streak could end

No doubt it will be another mania epic though

Yep, just looking at it on paper, you can already tell MOTN material right here. I agree with #Heel, Punk is simply just another sole in the graveyard that the Grim Reaper of Death Valley. But none the less, I am looking forward to the performance that these two will showcase come April 7th.

Hard to call.  As much as I believe Punk is over so many of Taker's past opponents, he won't get over Taker easily.  I feel as though the match would or could end in a draw through some stipulation like double pinfall or knockout.  That way, Taker is still "undefeated" and the streak remains in place, but Taker fades out and retires.

You know given Punk's history and great respect for the legends in the industry, I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of costume tribute to Paul Bearer when he shows up at Mania... maybe he'll do something that looks like he's mocking Undertaker, but he and the rest in the back will know otherwise. Maybe he'll beat Taker over the head with an urn or some such thing.

Punk should win at Mania in a some sort of dirty fashion. He ends the streak and gets nuclear heat for life. Plus it could set up a one off match with HBK if HBK decides to pull a Mick Foley in a few years.

Not to mention Taker can retire for good since he really does look finished.
