So Cody, with the young bucks and Kenny Omega are the executive vice presidents of AEW.

The Road to Double or Nothing YouTube series is doing a great job of showing Cody's other side to the work he does in AEW.

With Double or Nothing coming up, Cody has a match with his brother and has vowed that the match is not to kill Dustin Rhodes, but to "Kill the attitude era".

This should be an excellent match and then hopefully mean Dustin moves to the back to help with the running of the show and the development of some of the younger talent.

I wonder as time goes by, how much time Cody will spend in the ring - will he be a full time competitor or will he have a part time in-ring role but mainly working behind the scenes (sort of like the piss-ant bodybuilder in WWE).

What else does Dustin do? I'm sure the guy has loads of wisdom to pass on, but I don't know what his specialities are. I mean I doubt he is gonna go out and start teaching promo class and inspiring every single up and coming wrestler to such an extent that they all eventually thank him in their Hall of Fame acceptance speeches.

I think Cody will still be a active in ring performer for some time yet hes still pretty young, provided he can stay injury-free of course. It may become tough for him to juggle his office and on screen roles once AEW start producing weekly TV though and maybe running house shows.

As for Dustin it wouldn't surprise me if this is his last match, would be the perfect way to go out wrestling his baby brother in a match that was long rumoured to happen in WWE but never did, WWE obviously never viewed the match as a attraction.
After this match I'd expect Dustin to have a non-wrestling role in AEW maybe just working behind the scenes.

i was thinking more along the lines of the goings in behind the scenes in wrestling companies.

I mean hes probably seen everything there is to see in the business and could probably pass alot of valuable info onto Cody and the team running AEW to ensure they dont go down the wrong path.

Plus as AEW grows and they sign more younger talent - maybe he can pass on how to behave and be a focal point for advice?

So there have been updated on the unprotected chair shot from Fyter Fest.

The chair was gimmicked in a way that it should not have caused any damage to Cody whilst giving the effect of being unprotected, however Spears did not swing correctly and as a result the backrest on the chair caught Cody on the head and sliced him open.

As a result he has had to have 12 stitches and staples in his head.

That should be the first and only time we see AEW do that kind of shit.

Gimmick chair or not, it went wrong and could have caused much worse damage than a big head cut.

We don't expect wrestlers to put their long term health at risk for a OMG moment.

Cody's promo from last night is one of the best promos I've seen in years.

Dynamite was worth watching for that alone but the rest of the show delivered too

I saw it earlier today, and when he was done I said aloud: "THAT is how you cut a promo!"

I wouldn't say it was some iconic 'pipebomb' or 'Austin 3:16' level promo, but it was definitely good. Cody has very steadily gotten more and more over and I think it is 100% because he is the central figurehead of AEW, and 0% because of his wrestling.

On one hand he deserves the love he gets from the fans for all he has done, but on the other, I don't think he is a good choice for AEW champion, at least not yet. I mean, he is the most over guy in AEW, even more than Jericho so it makes sense, but from a storytelling perspective and just as an armchair talent scout he's just not the best guy for the spot IMO.

I hope Jericho retains and the stipulation that he'll never challenge for the title again is put into effect. I think it would say a lot for his professionalism if he did lose and quite frankly I think being Roddy Piper, or Ted DiBiase, or a Scott Hall, or a Mr. Perfect, or a Jake Roberts of your own company is very damned respectable too. In that role Cody would IMO become even more of a legend.
