Surely it would be better storyline wise for them to have a long(ish) running feud which Emma will eventually get the win in the final match - then focus Asukas next storyline on how she recovers etc

Having her losing and struggling to cope in the big leagues isnt really going to work - im sure they tried to do something similar with Sami Zayn and look how irrelevant he has been for the past 5 year

She wouldn't go on a losing streak. She would lose her main roster debut for shock and awe, to swerve people, make her character more interesting and stop us all getting bored when for months and months and months fans ask when will she lose, who to etc.

She will get a massive babyface pop, have Emma play heel more than she's ever been allowed before to win and then after the match have Asuka go mental unable to cope with the realisation she's lost and therefore go after Emma, ruin the ringside announce table, chase Emma with a chair etc.

It could see her so mad that Kurt Angle has to come out to try and calm her down and even women who dislike Emma to try and help her thinking Asuka has gone too far. Booked like that beats Asuka getting a predictable debut victory in less than ten minutes, before leaving the ring and it going down as just another female match where nothing out of the ordinary happened.

Meh im not so sure i agree

Look at many undefeated streaks over the years and theres always interest in every match because theres always the possibility of a loss

Having her lose straight away would cause a shock - no doubt - but many people may not know her so much from NXT so surely it would be a bigger shock if it happened later on (after people have had weeks of "When will Asuka lose@ drilled into them by commentators and promo videos - as well as seeing her dominant in matches)

Theres probably hundreds of ways this could be booked and one would suit someones opinion more than the others - knowing WWE they will have a massive surprise in there somewhere

I'm not a fan of people being built up and then losing on their debut - i feel it kills alot of interest / hype / momentum whatever you want to call it

My personal prediction is that she goes on a decent run and loses her first match at either the Rumble or Wrestlemania

She's joining the main roster where bigger crowds, more live TV, more publicity and wrestling against a better calibre of experienced women should mean defeats should happen for her.

I would be more interested in her starting a new unbeaten streak from her second match, but still not for as long as her NXT one lasted for where it gets to the point where her matches weren't as watchable because you couldn't see her being defeated.

She can't keep winning forever. Part of any wrestling persona is dealing with a defeat. If greats like Hogan, Rock, Austin etc can lose matches she can and Emma would benefit greatly from it more than anything she's ever done and Asuka wouldn't lose her aura if she was allowed to lose her temper post match to a level never seen or allowed before in womens wrestling.

Emma won because out of the ladies involved she is the most expendable, apart from Alicia Fox but she hasn't been taken seriously in years and is no match for Asuka.

Sasha Banks and even Bayley are money opponents for Asuka so they weren't going to waste them on a throwaway debut match where Asuka needs a strong dominant win.

There's that but there's also the case that Emma is a dangerous threat to Asuka given how their previous efforts went in NXT. I just hope they don't make it a squash match.

Taz's idea is literally ridiculous. It deserves to be ridiculed. Deflating Asuka, hyping up her status as a division killer and then killing her in her first match is the kind of Vince McMahon-esque stupidity that has ushered in the worst viewership numbers WWE has seen since before the attitude era.

Asuka needs either 1: Squash Emma spectacularly so as to prompt a holy shit chant from the crowd, or 2: put on a clinic with Emma, tell a good story, have some kind of swerve towards the end, and leave the fans dying for more because she and Emma are actually in a long term feud and a good one at that.

TBH I think we will get a combination of the Vince McMahon stupidity and get a squash of Emma, which will make Asuka look strong, but likely done in such a way that Asuka isn't highlighted to her maximum potential.
