At first I found his new gimmick ridiculous but I must admit I'm now intrigued as to whats in the cage, especially since the shocked reactions of the people who caught a glimpse of whats in there.

It definitely seems that its not a pet or anything like that but something sick and twisted that he likes to carry around and treats like a pet.

With WWE so conscious of being PC these days I cant imagine they'd allow any wrestler to carry a live animal around in a cage, I think the days of Jake the Snake carelessly throwing a Snake around are long gone.

At this point, I can't imagine the reveal of what's in the cage will pay off. I doubt that WWE has anything specific is mind to be in the cage. The longer this goes on combined with the more people that peak into it the cage and freak out... there's no good out on this gimmick. I think it's the new version of the Anonymous Raw General Manager. 

And no. I don't think that Hornswoggle is in the cage.

Of course the worst part is it looks fake. 

But the question is did all this make me more interested in seeing Erick Rowan in the ring? And to be honest as dumb as this whole thing is my answer is yes.

It looks fake sure but real enough that at first glance you may think it's real. I think there are tarantula's in existence that get to that kind of size. 

The thing is as ridiculous a angle it is for Rowan to be walking around with a fake giant spider in a cage in the short term it did get people including myself more interested in his character and his consistent squash match victories made him more believable as a credible opponent in the ring, so this storyline has achieved something in that it has made fans care about Rowan and has elevated him to at least high level enhancement talent status.

Come off it - its fucking ridiculous ....

Take into consideration everyones reactions when they first saw it in the cage - people diving over things to get away, even so called tough guys like Mojo Rawley

To be honest, it was never going to be anything worth the hype they gave it unless it was another wrestlers head (not the real thing but something similar to wyatts lamp) and even then it would be a stretch

I think they realised it too and hence why they just got it over and done with now instead of dragging it on for months and months longer

Rowan is never going to be anything in WWE the way hes booked, this is what - like take 3 or something. First he was in the wyatt family, then the bludgeon brothers and now this ....

The thing is I liked both Rowan and Harper in the ring anyway beforehand, weather as members of the Wyatt Family or Bludgeon Brothers, or singles. All the Wyatts were/are great at psychology bar Braun Strowman and I enjoy that style. This angle made me a little more interested in his character. 

And if there are truly tarantulas that big in real life; that is some scary shit.

I'm no expert but there are Bird Eating Tarantula's that I know can reach something close to the size of what Rowan was seen with on Raw. 

The thing is will this be the end of the angle or will it be revealed that the Spider is fake and Rowan was just using it as a prop to put the frighteners on other wrestlers? They can't surely have him continue to carry it around and expect people to believe the Spider is real as that's a bit insulting to the intelligence of fans. 

There probably is some truth to the thought that WWE simply didn't really know where to go with this angle and the low key reveal might be a way to quietly end it as they felt the whole mysterious cage gimmick had run it's course. 

Ultimately this hasn't done any harm to Rowan, as people have said it's got fans at least a little more interested in his character. I've never really seen that much in Rowan to be honest he's very much a old school generic big man heel.

So Drew McIntyre destroyed the cage with the ring steps on Raw. 

You saw no evidence of what was in the cage or what had happened to it but my guess is this signifies the end of this gimmick for Rowan. It would seem WWE have decided to end this story and after the silly mechanical spider appearing last week they probably decided it needed to end as soon as possible.
