I wonder if Paul Bearer actually WAS scheduled to show up on Raw last night? Perhaps that's why Taker had such an odd appearance at the top of the show; they had to scrap their original plans because Paul Bearer couldn't make it to the taping.
Guess we'll have to keep up on the news to find out what really happened with Moody. Gotta think this news hits Taker harder than most. Edited by Rico Len - 06/March/2013 at 05:47 |

And Mankind. Bearer managed him for a short period, didn't he?

When it's all said and done, Paul Bearer/Percy Pringle is one of the most important managers of the past 40 years, right up there with Captain Lou Albano, Bobby The Brain Heenan, and Classy Freddie Blassie. He is obviously most famous as being the long time manager of The Undertaker in the WWF/E, and as said he also managed Kane and Mankind, and also Vader and the Executioner. In the World Class he managed Ravishing Rick Rude and a few others.
I guess the one moment that stands out most to me right now is SummerSlam '96, when Bearer whacked The Undertaker with an urn and turned on him, siding with his opponent Mankind. Bearer was always good at what he did, making his memorable facial expressions and holding the urn. Plus of course that voice, "The pooower of the urn!!" You never knew what side he would be on. In his last run in the WWE in 2010, he made it look like he was gonna help his old protege The Undertaker but ended up siding with Kane (and then was kidnapped by Edge.) The reason as to why Bearer wasn't elected to the WWE Hall Of Fame is usually given as because he's mostly associated with The Undertaker; and The Undertaker was still active (albeit for the past few years part time.) But now I kind of wished they would have inducted him when he was still alive. He is a surefire bet to be inducted now in my opinion. Rest in peace. Edited by Kondor - 06/March/2013 at 06:35 |

Paul Bearer began his career in 1974 as Percivil Pringle III for Indian coast Independent Promotions as a wrestler, he took a break after his first son was born but returned full time to wrestling in 1984, and was manager in this time for Rick Rude, Steve Austin and Mark Calaway aka The Undertaker. In 1990 he was signed by WWE and given the Paul Bearer Gimmick and February 1991 he made his debut, where brother Love passed the management duties of Undertaker to Paul Bearer and for the next 13years, they would have a tempestuous on again off again Management Career. Paul Bearer is also credited with helping the careers of Mankind, Kane, The Executioner and Vader. Edited by LennyComa - 06/March/2013 at 06:39 |

My dad would have gone ballistic hearing this if he were still alive today. William was my favorite manager of all time and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. RIP to both

The blokes facial expressions were comedy gold and add to that the creepy voice he put on for Taker/Kane made him just brilliant. He certainly was one of a kind and will no doubt go into the Hall Of Fame in the future.
RIP William Moody. |
