Quote After the match, Reigns celebrates with his IC Title belt and heads to the back. On his way up the ramp, Samoa Joe runs up from behind and locks Reigns in the Coquina Clutch. Fit Finlay and Jamie Noble come out with some referees and try to get Joe off of Reigns. They finally get him to release the hold and start hauling him off. Joe breaks free and comes right back for Reigns and starts pummeling on him. They pull Joe off again and he finally leaves. Reigns is left laying on the ramp and has to be helped to the back.

Should be a great fued. Two big guys, who should be booked as level in ability with eachother.

We will see some hard hitting matches between them, where they will wake up hurting the next morning.

Be nice to think Joe will be the person to next hold the IC title....

Roman's record against Joe is even worse than his record against Braun so that's always a good place to start.

Quote According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE may go ahead and Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns next week on Raw in Los Angeles as part of Reigns' open challenge. If not, it should happen a week or two later as that is the direction that WWE is going and the next Raw PPV is not until February.

Another what could be a good storyline, that's going to end up rushed by creative.

I would keep them apart until February fueding but without contact with eachother.

You can have Kurt refuse to reward Joe with a title shot for his cowardly attack and at the Royal Rumble you can have Reigns come out to join the match and with that Joe is distracted and thrown out before Roman reaches the ring.

Why do they have to rush it they could easily have the match at the Royal Rumble, should Joe win the match then either both or just Roman can be entered into the Royal Rumble though if that's the case I don't want Roman to win it I would prefer a Smackdown guy win and tear the house down with AJ Styles ( except Jinder Mahal or Baron Corbin keep both guys away from the main event)

I agree. It would make the anticipation for the match even greater and having the I.C title defended at a big four PPV would mean a lot for the belt.

Quote Roman Reigns (c) vs. Samoa Joe: Reigns' IC Title is on the line in this one, and the Title can change hands via DQ. Joe starts off strong off the opening bell with right hands to Reigns. Reigns starts fighting back on the ropes but the ref pulls them apart and admonishes Reigns. Joe comes back and sends Reigns to the outside. Reigns takes a breather and comes back in. Joe fires up and hits an elbow then goes for a suplex, but Reigns reverses it into a suplex of his own. Reigns goes for a spear in the corner, but Joe dodges and Reigns hits the ring post. Joe covers for a two count. Reigns starts fighting back with a series of clotheslines and punches. Joe fights back and hits a Pele kick. Joe chokes Reigns over the middle rope until the ref hauls him off. Joe follows up with strikes in the corner on Reigns. Joe whips Reigns into the corner then works on Reigns' left arm. Joe whips Reigns into the corner again, but this time Reigns comes out with a flying clothesline on Joe. Reigns hits a series of ten clotheslines in the corner, then boots Joe in the face and sends him falling out to ringside. Reigns follows him outside and hits the Drive By. Back in the ring, Reigns and Joe brawl in the corner before Joe knocks Reigns outside. Joe follows up with a suicide dive onto the Champion at ringside. Back in the ring, Joe continues to work on Reigns. When Reigns starts coming back, Joe shoves Reigns into the ref. Reigns tries to explain what happened to the ref and the ref allows it to continue. After some back and forth, Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch. Reigns fights out and runs the ropes and hits the spear for the win to retain the IC Title.

Winner & still Intercontinental Champion: Roman Reigns

- Reigns celebrates with his IC Tite belt as Joe storms up the ramp looking disgruntled.

An hard hitting contest and another really good match for both of them to add to their career.

It was a good spot where you wondered if the Ref was going to DQ Roman. Big praise to the ref for his part in that spot and also knowing how to get out of the way unhurt when Roman saved him from Joe making contact with him.

Best match of the night on Raw and I was a little surprised with the outcome. I would have thought they'd pull the title switch now given it's WM season on the horizon...unless they plan on doing title vs title to screw over the midcard guys some more haha.

I'm shocked they didn't start the new year with a title change, but expect Joe as the next champion sooner rather than later.

Probably on the 25th anniversary night of Raw Joe will win the title, as that's bound to have at least one title change to make the night more 'memorable'.

To up the fued so it's not another samey match, get the two big lads to have a ladder match to show they can go as well as the smaller guys in this kind of environment.

I'm confident that The Miz will take his title back soon enough. Where Samoa Joe goes from there I don't know.

It doesnt seem like they have anything else for him

He's moved from the main title picture down to the IC title and hes not going to win that by the looks of it - he isnt going to win the rumble so im supposing they just keep him buzzing about until maybe the EC?
