Alright, I saw this done on another site, and it worked really well and came up with some surprising results. What we do is everyone posts their favourite matches –try to do a top 10, but go up to 20 if you’re having trouble narrowing it down. Once everyone’s had a chance to post, I’ll work out the results, where a match gets 10 points for being somebody’s number 1, nine points for number 2 and so on. Any match on #10 or lower gets one point. Once I’ve done the math, I’ll post up the Official Top 10 TUP Matches, and try to include youtube links and stuff. If you could include the date or event with your picks (rather than just, say, Samoa Joe Vs. C.M. Punk) so I can narrow it down when putting it together. I’ll have a think about mine and get my picks up later today!
(adders - I did have a search and couldn't see anything like this - please copy over if theres a old simular thread!) Edited by Gx - 08/February/2010 at 18:27 |

Fletch: Why didnt Vince just get a load of monitors to act as lumberjacks? Then Bret wouldnt have stood a chance. That monitor will be inducted in to the HOF at Wrestlemania 30.

2) Rob Van Dam vs Jeff Hardy - Invasion. 3) Bret ''Hitman'' Hart vs Owen Hart - Wrestlemania 10. 4) ''Stone Cold'' Steve Austin vs The Rock - Wrestlemania 17 - WWE Title.(I think thats the right Mania, the one in Texas where Austin turned heel and alligned with Vince Mcmahon). 5) Shawn Michaels vs Triple H - Summerslam 2002. 6) Kurt Angle vs Samoa Joe - Genesis 2006. 7) AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle - Live edition of Impact: January 2010. 8) The Undertaker vs Kurt Angle vs The Rock - Vengeance 2002. 9) The Undertaker vs Batista - Wrestlemania 23. 10) Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty - Raw: May 1993. 11) The Undertaker vs Mick ''Mankind'' Foley - King of the Ring 1997. 12) The Undertaker vs Randy Orton - Wrestlemania 21. 13) Rey Mysterio vs Sabu - One Night Stand 2. 14) Kurt Angle vs Desmond Wolfe - Turning Point 2009. 15) Bret ''Hitman'' Hart vs ''The British Bulldog'' Davey Boy Smith - Summerslam 1992. My picks as promised - managed to get it down to
1. Chris Benoit Vs. Kurt Angle (Royal Rumble 2003)
A matt classic.
2. CM Punk Vs. Samoa Joe (Joe Vs Punk II, ROH 2004)
Ditto.
3. Randy Orton Vs. Cactus Jack (Streetfight, Backlash 2004)
I was torn between this or Cactus Jack's street fight with HHH at Royal Rumble 2000, but I think this one's more intense, with both men having alot of prove after bland Wrestlemania appearences. Plus, I look to this match as really making a star out of Orton.
4. TLC IV – Jeff Hardy & RVD Vs. Bubba & Spike Dudley Vs. Christian & Chris Jericho Vs. Kane (Raw 2002)
WWE's finest spot monkeys (plus a really bad-ass Kane) make this the best ladder match no one seems to ever remember
5. HHH Vs. Shawn Micheals Vs. Chris Benoit (Wrestlemania 20)
Great career bests from all three men, and an emotional, post match embrace.
6. Chris Jericho Vs. Shawn Micheals (Wrestlemania 19)
Truth be told, I could easily fill my top 10 with HBK Wrestlemania matches. This one edges Angle, Flair or Taker for me. By a whisker.
7. AJ Styles Vs. Christopher Daniels Vs. Samoa Joe (TNA, Unbreakable 2005)
For me, still the best match TNA have ever produced.
8.Bret Hart Vs. Owen Hart (Wrestlemania 10)
Genuinly involving angle, and a great, great match
9. The Royal Rumble 1992
Epic, hour long performance by Ric Flair, and the first WWF event I ever saw. 10. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio (Title Vs. Hair, WCW Halloween Havok 1997)
Everything that made WCW's cruiserweights badass, embodied in one match.
11. Mankind Vs. Undertaker (Hell In A Cell, King Of The Ring 1998)
Probably my most emotional match ever, and a match that seems to make everyone forget about Kayfabe the first time they see it.
12. Ric Flair Vs. Ricky Steamboat (NWA Clash Of The Champions VI, 1989)
Old-school at its best!
13.Bret Hart Vs. Steve Ausin (I Quit Match, Wrestlemania 13)
Austin passes out before he taps. Best WWE booking ever?
14. Low Ki Vs. Kenta (ROH Final Battle 2005)
Aother epic ROH match that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
15. Kurt Angle Vs. Steve Austin (Unforgiven 2001)
As crappy as the InVasion thing was, I loved the fued between Angle and Austin, and the intensity the matches between the two had.
16. Paul London Vs. Micheal Shane (ROH Unscripted 2002)
A classic spot heavy match, that introduced me to the world of ROH, and was the genesis of Paul London's 'Please Don't Die' chants.
17.HBK Vs. Hulk Hogan
Just for Micheal's hillariously over-the-top selling. |

This isn't in order from 1 to 10 or 1 to 20, solely because I have difficulty actually thinking of what was better lol.
Bret Hart vs Owen Hart - Wrestlemania X
TLC I, II and III
Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage - Wrestlemania III
Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn - ECW Heatwave?
Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart - Wrestlemania 1996
Shawn Michaels vs Scott Hall - Wrestlemania X
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H - Summerslam 2002
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H - Bad Blood 200? (That Hell In A Cell match, dont know which PPV it was on, either 2005 or 2006)
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker - Bad Blood 1997
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker - Wrestlemania 25
The only matches I can really remember that were good.

It took me a bit over 2 hours of research and watching videos and trolling the web... But I did it. To the best of my recollection my top 20 matches ever. Regardless of how much time I spent I know I left a match or several off. but oh well, here it is.
20: Jushin Liger vs Brian Pillman (Superbrawl 2) 19: Ric Flair vs Harley Race (Starrcade *READ MY POST BELOW*) 18: Petey Williams vs A.J Styles vs Chris Sabin (Final Resolution 2005) 17: Undertaker vs Shawn Micheals (WM25) 16: Mankind vs Undertaker (King of the Ring 98) 15: Samoa Joe vs A.J Styles vs Christopher Daniels (No Surrender 2009) 14: Chris Jericho vs Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit (WM 2000) 13: Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Mitsuharu Misawa (June 1990?) 12: Mick Foley vs HHH (Royal Rumble 2000) 11: Chris Benoit vs Dean Malenko (Hog Wild 96) 10: Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat (WM 3) 9: Stone Cold vs The Rock (WM 15) 8: Bret Hart vs Owen Hart (WM10) 7: Stone Cold vs Bret Hart (WM 13) 6: Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn (Hardcore Heaven 99) 5: America's Most Wanted vs XXX (Turning Point 2004) 4: Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit (Royal Rumble 2003) 3: Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon (WM10) 2: Dean Malenko vs. Eddie Guerrero (2/3 falls in ECW [not sure when or at what]) 1: Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart (WM12) Edited by bigfloridapimp - 15/February/2010 at 22:07 |

My picks for Best Matches ever… 1. Ric Flair vs. Sting---Clash of Champions I---45 minute time limit draw... the match established Sting as being the future of the company without downgrading the company's top draw. They would face each other seeming countless times over the years, but this was the night that they were equals. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puy5UimlMdQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2hQRwtQX2Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mxpi8jVYkHM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8a0t3fClCI 2. Ric Flair vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat---WrestleWar 1989... the 1989 feud reaches its climax. Steamboat was the moral everyman--a loyal husband and a loving father against Flair was the dirty lying cheating playboy. This was the first time I was cheering for the heel to win. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3xnp3_ric-flair-vs-ricky-steamboat-nwa-wr_sport http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3xo5b_ric-flair-vs-ricky-steamboat-nwa-wr_sport 3. Ric Flair vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat---Clash of Champions VI---2 out of 3 falls. At the time
there was no heel more hated than Ric Flair yet Ricky Steamboat seemed to have his number all
year long. At first it seemed like this match was the end of the feud., but one more match would
remain.
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XOTUwMzAwOTI=.html 4. Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk---Clash of Champions IX---“I Quit” Match... Funk was still a badass back then... Hardcore Legend vs the Dirtiest Player in the Game, this feud tends to get overlooked because of the Flair-Steamboat feud before it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tX0w1ffW9s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0tHq4DWBqM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6tISvdzOXg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1KT6CLij74 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh-NXQeOn-w 5. Ric Flair vs. Kerry Von Erich---David Von Erich memorial---NWA World Heavyweight Championship match... without a doubt one of the most emotionally-charged matches ever. World Class Championship Wrestling was a regional promotion at its peak... drawing 40,000 to the event (although WCCW would claim 50K) the outcome was never in doubt. Kerry Von Erich's only major world title, it lasted only 18 days http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x21wkw_ric-flair-vs-kerry-von-erich_sport 6. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant---WrestleMania III... this will never be confused with a highly technical match. This was WWF finally reaching its pinnacle as a national promotion. This was the face of the company ascending the mountain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8k28NLl1js http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ2NVncV8Zo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuHfql-d0MM 7. Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior---WrestleMania VI---Title vs. Title. Meant to be a torch-passing match and leading into a new WWF era. Hogan's Golden era came to end with a surprising clean pin. Quickly after WWF executives would question their decision to crown Ultimate Warrior the ultimate champion. http://video.nate.com/211300667 http://video.nate.com/211300687 http://video.nate.com/211300744 8. Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock--- WrestleMania X8---Icon vs. Icon. Hogan thought this was another torch passing match... but he was wrong. The Rock didn't need Hogan to pass him anything, the Rock already had the torch. Hogan was past his prime, and this was the final highlight of his wrestling career. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMs6ohfjmrQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJg2D0piE6U 9. Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog Davy Boy Smith---Summer Slam 1992. Another emotional match-up. Real life brother-in-laws, in front of 80K+ fans. Bret Hart was on the verge of becoming the WWF's main eventer and for the British Bulldog this was his finest hour. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x11koa_summerslam-bret-hart-vs-british-bul_sport 10. Shawn Michael vs. Razor Ramon---WrestleMania X---Ladder match for Intercontinental Championship. Forgetting the whole Kliq backstage friendship, Shawn Michaels cemented his main event future without even winning the match. Some people remember this match as Shawn Michaels vs a ladder because how he blew Razor Ramon out of the match. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x793nf_ladder-match-razor-ramon-vs-shawn-m http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xk44_wrestlemaniax-shawn-michaels-vs-raz_sport Edited by thundarr2000 - 15/February/2010 at 22:00 |

My 19th got in by accident. I was listing matches then copy and pasting them from 20th to 1st and that must have snuk in... LoL. 19th best match is supposed to be
Ric Flair vs Harley Race, Starrcade (Not sure which) It was a cage match, Gene Kiniski was the special ref (And almost ruined the match with horrid reffing job...) LoL. BTW, Just to go on record, if there was a 21. It would be HBK vs Flair retirment match WM 24? Only match that ever made me cry.....
