Was a ok episode, as mentioned nothing to complain about but not much to shout about either.

I didn't love Private Party vs Lucha Bros mainly because PP look very green and their spots look far too choreographed at times. Lucha Bros are growing on me though.

The highlight of the SCU vs Dark Order match was Jericho, the sky box brawl was a fun segment.

Still not a fan of the Young Bucks or Best Friends.

Omega easily beats Janella which was fine, impressed with Omega's ring work here. They need to be pushing Kenny like this as the top star.

Vignette for Wardlow, this guy looks like someone who may finally catch my interest.

Britt Baker showcase match, I hate her finisher where she sticks her hand in their mouth.

PAC vs Moxley was a good match, they are really building PAC as a top talent, time limit draw isn't the best way to end your show but this is obviously going somewhere after Moxley's reaction.

I'm liking what ARE are doing but as I keep saying I just need someone to join their roster who I'm really emotionally invested in, I like how their product is more authentic and more edgy than WWE's but they just don't have the guys on the roster that WWE have that make me want to watch.
In honesty I was far more into TNA back during their better days than I am currently into AEW and even now when I look at the TNA/Impact roster it appeals to me more than much of the talent AEW have.

Best episode so far this week, the reason is simple, they found a good blend of promos and talking segments and wrestling and storyline/feud development. This is what their shows have lacked so far.

Cody's promo was very good, its been completely overrated by AEW fanboys but there is no denying it was quality mic work.

Really liked the Jericho video package.

PAC vs Trent was a decent tv match, I'm enjoying how they are booking PAC a lot.

Decent interview segment featuring Brandi who seemed to announce she'll be managing Awesome Kong.

Didn't really care for the Women's match or the tag match between Private Party and the Dark Order, but the main event was good enough and the crazy brawl at the end was the best part.

It was a good episode, but for me it wasn't all that great. Unlike you, Fletch, I liked the tag and women's match, but not the main event so much. I did like Pac vs Trent though.

Brandi I think should make a very good bumping manager for Kong. I don't think she really has it to be a wrestler, but she can take a bump when she has to, and she's more than just serviceable on the mic, she's actually pretty good, so I think the pairing works quite well.

I already addressed Cody and his promo in his own thread, so I'll leave it at that.

At this point I think Dynamite is looks pretty damned good. They've got a month's worth of shows in and I'm now invested in PAC, Moxley, Cody & Jericho, and am slowly developing interest in Sammy Guevara. That's enough to keep me tuning in, and there are a number of people who are at least not totally boring and inspiring me to spend time looking at my phone instead of watching.

I still don't give much of a shit about their tag division even though I fully admit they've been putting on amazing matches, way better than WWE does. Lucha Bros are IMO the most interesting part of the tag division, but for me they should just be middle of the pack with 3-4 other teams with much more drawing power to them as the stars of the division.

Their women's division needs some real work. Get Awesome Kong and Brandi working shows regularly and they can perhaps tentpole the division for at least a little while and start finding MORE women that are actually good. Whatever the case is, AEW need to make some big signings ASAP whether it's people from the Mae Young Classic that made a good impression on fans, or some better indie talent, or someone who can actually work a mic. We need a few women who can do some good chain wrestling. That's what drew me in when NXT was in it's infancy. The women in NXT back then were putting on matches that evoked memories of Owen vs Bulldog and Hitman vs Perfect. Right now all I'm getting is, well, TNA matches that indie fans clamored about being so good, but really were just slightly better than Diva's era crap and only because they were given more time.

Overall I think the show is doing well, but it HAS to step it up even higher in more than just it's men's singles division, which BTW needs to get a mid-card title or two introduced pretty soon.

And BTW, if it sounds like I'm being too critical of AEW, if it's any consolation, I can't even muster enough interest to watch the Raw vs Smackdown vs NXT stuff WWE is trying to go with. I watched Smackdown from last week following the roster getting stuck in Saudi Arabia and I just didn't really feel a damned thing for what they did, and I should have. So AEW interesting me enough to even watch is probably higher praise than it sounds like ATM.

I dont really care for the tag division either, they are having great matches but there isnt one team that I really give a shit about as yet, I'm starting to warm to LAX a little but that's it. I cant stand the Young Bucks, their over excited frat boy look and personalities and spot monkey ring style does nothing for me.
I have no idea why they chose SCU as the inaugural tag champs, at this point Kaz and Daniels should be there as vets to help the young guys, unless this is all designed to get Scorpio Sky over. But for me I think the Lucha Bros, LAX or even Private Party would have been better as the first tag team champions.

A mid level title is needed and the top two guys I would choose to capture it are MJF or PAC, two guys who would excel in a high mid-card position.

This past week was definitely the kind of show format they want week to week, couple of decent matches and a selection of promos and video packages designed to build characters and storylines.

I think those promos spots would probably best used if they were to go the tag teams so that people could get invested in them, especially since they're putting on such good matches. I definitely agree that AEW could be the best place in the pro-wrestling world for tag team wrestling, but first you gotta make me give a damn about them.

From back as far as I can personally remember first-hand, it was promos and weird non-wrestling segments that got me invested in wrestling. The top ones all date back to my first run as a hardcore fan when I was in my early teens watching segments like the Barber Shop where HBK turned heel and broke up the Rockers, or when Virgil finally stood up to the Million Dollar Man on the Brother Love Show, or when Jake Roberts latched his king cobra onto the arm of the Macho Man, or when Mr. Perfect was turned face against the Heenan Family to join forces with the Macho Man at Survivor Series 92. My point is not that those were so awesome and great, and they should be copied or anything like that. My point is that they were all non-wrestling segments where something REALLY big and momentous happened.

So far AEW has had one, just this last weekend, where MJF threw in the towel for Cody, and then attacked him and turned heel in a big, big way. People will remember MJFs full-on heel turn for as long as AEW exists.

They need to do a good faceturn too, something WWE/WWF hasn't been able to do since the early 90s, and something I haven't seen happen in any other company either. I think the closest I've ever seen since the early 90s was when Daniel Wyatt turned face (again) on Bray Wyatt instead of continuing on as a member of the Wyatt Family, kicked his face in, and then climbed to the top of the cage and led the crowd in a "YES!" chant.

If AEW could find a heel that people kind of like or at least have a strong respect for, then find a way to set them up as a legit hero it would do a lot for not only that newly minted babyface, but also AEW if they continue to push him/her.

Once upon a time turning someone babyface was a surefire way to make them a top guy with a huge push up the card. AEW would do well to figure that formula out and make use of it again.

I tend to think today's fans dont understand the value of promos and storytelling, they just want all this flippy high spot crap in matches and not much more.

As a fan of nearly 30 years now my views are very old school, I was raised on promos and interview segments and that was how you became invested in a character, my early wrestling memories are of shows like Wrestling Challenge and Superstars which were a collection of preliminary matches and promos/interviews. The formula worked as you would get to know the characters and just see them occasionally work very short showcase squash matches.

As Rico said the most memorable moments in wrestling are not matches, they are non-wrestling segments, stuff like The Rock turning heel and joining the corporation, Stone Cold's 3:16 promo, some of Bret Hart's heel promos, DX segments, Shawn Michaels turning heel on Hogan and the follow up promo work he did, Batista turning babyface on Triple H, this is just to name a few.

To be honest if AEW is to be just a straight wrestling show featuring a collection of matches and little else then I have no interest in watching, but this past week is far more the kind of TV product I want to see.

I'm with fletch this style of show is going to get old real quick the wrestlers need to work on their promo ability and stop having shots at the e it does them no favours whatsoever.

The wrestling is very good but we need more otherwise this may as well be glorified indies

Well they seem to be running more storyline driven segments now which makes for a better balance on their TV product.

I was watching Full Gear and the missus who isnt a wrestling fan watched a bit with me, she started asking me where these AEW guys came from and why they aren't working for WWE, she makes me laugh because she always gets so muddled up with WWE, AEW, NXT and for some reason she even thinks the Saudi Arabia shows are a separate company. So I went on to explain about the lighter schedule and how some wrestlers just much prefer the creative freedom of AEW giving Moxley and Jericho as examples, I also told her how AEW is a more realistic pro wrestling product while WWE is more pantomime and dont seem to care if their storylines are ridiculous and cant be taken seriously.

Anyway this is what I prefer about AEW and Impact right now, the production is that of a real pro wrestling organisation and everything feels legit, so much of WWE still comes across as fake and horribly scripted, there have been small signs of improvement but not enough.

My one complaint with AEW is still the weak roster, particularly the womens division. Unfortunately for AEW the one thing WWE have got right in recent times is the womens division and that is still the place to be for the ladies and I dont see many female WWE talents defecting to AEW anytime soon, their best hope was Sasha Banks but even she seems to have ironed out her issues with WWE now.
Best thing AEW can do is try and raid some of the women from Impact when their contracts are up with of course Tessa Blanchard the top target, but it will be a tough sell as she is being pushed as the top star in Impact right now and I'm sure WWE will also be interested. AEW have already missed out on Tenille Dashwood and Scarlett Bordeaux recently.
With the current roster they should run a Riho/Awesome Kong programme, that's the most interesting feud with the talent they have.

So just finished up watching this weeks episode:

I love what they are doing with Omega - they are slowly building on this "am i as good as they say i am" storyline - the way he asked how Mox was when he got told he wasnt cleared really played on to this well especially considering his reaction when he found out Mox was cleared.

Mox v Nakazawa was what it was, a great way for Mox to establish even more dominance and then get some mic time to lay down a challenge to the AEW roster.

Jurassic Express v Dark Order was a really good match. I still dont like Dark Order.  Grayson is actually really good but Uno just isnt very good and i just cant get interested in them because of him.

Luchasaurus is back way ahead of schedule and the crowd are going nuts, i am going nuts. This man is up there with the best big men in wrestling, yes he is probably rusty but what he does for his size is ridiculous.

Spears is out next and here is also Peter Avalon.  Darby Allin interrupting the promo was well receieved by the crowd. He is another one that is super over.

We've now got a three way match up.

Allin picked up the win after a coffin drop, which looks better everytime i see it. Janela attacked Spears during the match.

Allin has just accepted Mox's challenge and the crowd have went mental. What a match that could be.

We've got another Kong weird attack and hair cut - this time on Allie

Le Champion was the next one out to a pretty big reaction. How good is his entrance music by the way, Judas by his band Fozzy.

Hahahaha MJF has just come out to an elaborate Cody entrance - what an absolute shithouse

Asshole chants are ringing out around the arena and now MJF has the stick and is running his mouth like only he could - the blokes an absolutely fantastic heel.

Go out of your way to watch the MJF and Y2J exchange - absolute fire mic work - fantastic

Cody eventually made his way out, botched a powerslam which is no real big deal and then Wardlow arrived to beat down Cody choking him with a tie to end the segment.

PAC v Page is next on the card in the rubber match.  This was another awesome match. The 2 styles really mesh well and seem to make for fantastic matches every time these meet. Hopefully we get a title feud between these in the future when one of them picks up the strap which they no doubt will. PAC picked up an impressive win.

We then got a good backstage brawl between the bucks and santana and ortiz. At one point they ended up throwing one of the bucks through a door only to find Orange Cassidy standing there - super over and a huge pop for him. Santana and Ortiz then put matt jackson through a section of the stage.

The main event was next up, SCU v Jericho and Sammy for the tag team titles.  This was another solid match. Sammy Guevara and Scorpio Sky are undoubtably two future huge stars in AEW - they both have it, for me Scorpio Sky is right up there already as one of the best on the roster.

Just wanted to make another comment, there was debate before All In around who should be the first AEW Champion and i now, even more so, believe putting the strap on Jericho first was the best thing to do - he is outstanding.

Jake Hager and Daniels got involved and Hager looked dominant.

Wow Scorpio Sky got the roll up on Y2J and the clean pin after a few very close near falls either way. Jericho then smashed up ringside and started attacking the turnbuckle with his char similar to when he was in WCW.

This was a really good show. I've seen alot of people online complaining that they spent too much time on promos and character development and not enough on wrestling

Honestly they cant win - last week it was the other way around.

This was a really good show and next weeks card looks stacked too.

The people crying there wasn't enough wrestling are idiots, for me this week was a perfect format for how a good wrestling show should be laid out.

You had a few short showcase matches for several talents like Moxley and Nyla Rose, you had feature matches like PAC vs Page which was really good, then you had some storyline building segments and promos as well as the introduction of a new character in Wardlow.

I've been critical of AEW but these past two weeks have won me over, I'm a fan and currently I would rather watch Dynamite than Raw or Smackdown.

The MJF and Jericho promo was great, it ranked right up there with some of the more memorable stuff from the Attitude Era, these two bounced off each other so well. This is what a wrestling promo should be not a load of scripted drivel.

I'm loving Moxley as the renegade loner, his match with Darby Allin should be crazy, looking forward to it.

Was some nice booking with Scorpio Sky getting a good rub in his tag match main event, I can see this leading to a mini feud with Jericho which will be good development for Scorpio who has looked strong in tag matches.
