Seriously, it's hard to top TNA's Reverse Battle Royal. I think it was a gimmick that somebody (Russo) thought sounded cool, but had zero idea how such a thing would actually work.

I'm still looking for a video I watched on YouTube. It might have been from Mid South or Memphis. It was a big team match inside a steel cage. They were clearly trying to mimic WarGames. They made it a wooden cage with what was supposed to be barbed wire. They promised a bloody vicious match, but the when the first guy took a bump against the side, the damn thing nearly fell apart. So the guys had to switch up and avoid bumping the sides while some ringside guys tried to tied it back together.

Agreed. I came to this thread cause I realized 80% of most strap matches are a boring push/pull tug of war along with a wrestler trying to touch the turnbuckle. And then of course they usually have the thing where one guy "secretly" also touches the turnbuckle and the opponent doesn't see it. The problem with this is that it's boring cause it's not actual wrestling and drags (no pun intended) on too long.

And to think that people label headlocks "rest holds" (a term I hate). At least with a headlock the opponent is in theory wearing down.

I could live with casket matches.

Casket matches are fine as long as the fact that it's a casket match doesn't turn three quarters of the match into a futile effort to get an obviously conscious opponent into the casket. If you get at least 80% of the match without stupid casket-stuffing spots, it's got potential.

The issue with strap matches is that, while there are a few cool spots than you can use the strap for, they're all used in every single strap match. Choking over the top rope and things like that are cool the first time, but after that it gets boring. It simply doesn't have the capability of ingenuity that's evident in things like a ladder match. Every ladder match WWE runs, and they've run dozens, generally has a great never-before-seen spot, where you just can't do that in a strap match. Plus, as Kon said, there's usually some kind of shitty Dusty finish where both opponents touch at the same time or the heel secretly touches a post or something stupid.

I do enjoy strap matches (or any other variation such as a Texas Bull Rope or Russian Chain) as I like the idea of having two wrestlers tapped and tied too the wrist and they can't escape from their opponent. Its compelling and intriguing to watch when its right two people involved.

However, I've never cared for the "Touch ALL 4 Corners" stipulation, because you have too suffer through the same sequence over dozen times during the actual match.

I have never been a fan of 8 man tag matches, I also don't like Evening Gown Matches (Fucking Briscoe and Patterson Ruined that)

I think having multi-men tag team matches on more frequent basis is what effectively killed the Survivor Series in my opinion. Everything that is over a 6 Man Tag Team contest seems like a bit of a cluster fuck sometimes. I'm not speaking from personal experience, but it must have been special back in the day to see the five (or four) top/midcard Baby Faces against an equal number of the top/midcard Heels once a year at the Survivor Series. Now they happen every week on Raw or Smackdown these days.

I've never cared for the Bull rope matches. Being lashed to your opponent and beating one another with the rope (and the bell, if attached) is rather mundane. To me, half the fun is watching somebody run, only to have their opponent come flying at them from the posts or ambush them with a sneak attack or a weapon. Granted, the Bull rope matches Dusty Rhodes had in his day were bloody and brutal, but there's nothing sporting about it. It's one individual dominating the match, beating the other one to a pulp.

And while I'm on the subject, Batista vs. JBL, wasn't the match where they were tied together and had to touch the corner posts within a set time a Bull Rope Match?

Watch the main event of No Way Out '98, it's one of the best PPV matches WWE have ever put on. Granted, it's also a hardcore match with some of the biggest stars of the Attitude Era, but still.

Never was a fan of mixed Tag-Team matches either.  The aspect of watching the man tag the woman and BOTH men have to leave so the women then square off was boring.  For whatever reasons, I know they won't allow men and women to square off against one another (exceptions were made; see Kharma initiating an Implant Buster of Ziggler at the RR or TNA's 6-man mixed tag match of Tara and GenMe vs. Mickie James & Ink Inc. or Robbie E, Cookie, and GenMe vs. MCMG, Jay Lethal and Velvet Sky).  Wether be about the age old principle of "Men shouldn't hit women, period!" or something else, there's no point in having a match where you can't see a wrestler take it to his opponent's valet.  Yet, we can see Randy Orton DDT Stephanie McMahon and kiss her to fuck with HHH.
