In wrestling, its cliche that when a wrestler (kayfabe) retires due to a stipulation made or such, they come back at a later time, be it weeks, months, or sometimes years. However, what were times when said wrestler stuck to his/her guns in storyline or better yet real life? (Not even for a one off appearance) Lets exclude HBK for this one.

Muhammad Hassan is the only one I can think of.

Hassan guaranteed that if he didn't defeat The Undertaker at The Great American Bash, he would leave the WWE forever.(Course, this was due to the censors of UPN wanting Hassan off the air.) Undertaker gave him the last ride through a hole in the stage. They later said Hassan has sustained a lot of injuries. The next week, Theodore Long said that Hassan will not appear on Smackdown anymore and as far as he's concerned, he can go to hell. Hassan hasn't been seen in WWE since.

Holy crap, great timing. I just finished reading an old Jamie Noble retires thread. So, him.

Also, Jake Rob... no.

Ric Fla... no.

John Ce... no.

John Bradshaw Layf... no.

Never mind.

Retiring in wrestling is akin to death in comic books.  A good angle for a short-term boost in business.  But rarely ever permanent.

I wonder if HHH is going to do this or do like his friend Michaels and stay retired.

The retirement of HHH is going to make for one really good storyline.

Who could retire him though? Orton couldn't do it, because God knows those two should never be in a ring together again, Cena couldn't do it because that would be instant perma-heat, and there aren't really any other main eventers on Raw LOL

I wouldn't mind seeing Del Rio do it actually, that'd be great. Especially with a cheap submission win...

This is actually a lot harder than you think because as JTB has said, the vast majority of wrestlers "retire" and then reappear in later years/months.

I did find out that apparently Jamie Noble did wrestle Tyler Reks back in June last year but I don't know if you'd count that as coming out of retirement - it was in FCW (WWE's development territory)

If I actually come up with anybody else who's remained retired, I'll let you know.
