As I side note to all that, Mark Henry was not on NXT last night as they mentioned that he had been injured on RAW at the hands of Nexus. Maybe dude got legitimately hurt from that spot....it sure did look awkward, but could have ended up much worse for both men.

that was more Barrett's fault than Henry's but has anyone noticed how often injuries occur in Mark Henry's matches? I'd be tired of that if I was Vince. I'd tell him to either lose some of that weight or I was going to release him. Didn't they do that with Big Show?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, what a great couple of days for my 3 fave performers. Kane WHC, Shaemus still WWE champ, and Orton #1 contender.
The #1 Contenders match was simply an awesome performance from Edge, Jericho, and Orton, and to me the spot of the night. Of course, being an Orton mark, I was happy to see him win and the feud with Shaemus will be good.
I've been hanging for Orton and Shaemus to get into competition for a strap. To date, none of their one-on-one matches have run to the finish (ended by interference etc), so really looking forward to seeing these guys work together. Looks like Miz and Bourne are in the mix as well.

I also agree that BillyBreathes had a great point. The nWo, every one of them from Hulk Hogan down to Vincent/Virgil, were known and established people. These Nexus guys, especially now that Danielson is gone, are not. They are true rookies to most all fans. Therefore as eluded to how much we the fans care is way down. I agree that many here are intrigued by any match situation they find themselves in; but it is mostly a gang of 6, 7, or 8 guys interfering in a match and ganging up on people. I would love to see more of them in actual matches. I don't think Justin Gabriel hasn't been in a singles match since NXT season 1 ended. Neither has Heath Slater, A List Otunga, nor any other capable Nexus member. To use your word I'd be intrigued if I saw more of that. But I understand why WWE is careful not to put too many of them in singles matches. The crowd might find it boring, see them as outsiders or unknowns, and lose interest. The WWE remembers Booker T vs Buff Bagwell in a "WCW" match on Raw a few years ago.
I am soo glad Hulk Hogan didn't have this attitude when he was about to slam Andre The Giant (which I believe he did tear some back muscles from). Wrestling history would have been different. That's why I don't really buy into the "it's too risky" argument, IF the wrestlers are willing to do it. There's risk in any move, people have torn ligaments from normal slips and slides. Now, if you want to argue Barrett was too inexperienced to properly protect Henry, fine; that's a valid point in my eyes. But if both people are willing to do the spot and are aware of the risks involved than I'm all for doing it. And I know, one of the greatest WrestleManias of all time can't compare to a regular episode of Raw that's apt to soon be forgotten about. But wrestlers have long gone by the mantra that you give your all in front of an indy crowd of 15 people just as much than you do a world wide pay per view. |

That already means next week will have a lower rating like taped Raws always do.
I'm hoping tonight that the guest host doesn't take up too much time (like Rob Zombie).
Also do something different with Nexus than a weekly beating on someone.

I like this Raw, Cena's promo was terrible, rambling about superheros and shit, but Jericho saved it. Orton's swerve was brilliant and its exactly how he should be booked (even the squash match with Uso was O.K) and Nexus looked good, my man Tarver is showing his class. I hate that thing they do with the lights in the 'GM e-mails' though, makes no sense.
Good shit, makes a nice change from moaning about how terrible it is I guess. |

I might be looking too much into that, but they don't use sledgehammer references very often... |

RAW 26 July.
Very thematic show - Cena's 'Allstars' torn apart by internal strife, while Nexus looked united, focused and strong ... or something like that lol. Not exactly original, but very operatic.
Only part of the show that really got up my nose was the Nexus beatdown of the Lawler crew. Unbelievably lame that Nexus eliminated all 7 opponents without losing one, and reduced seven well known faces to weak uber-jobbers dropping like flies to laughable 'punishment'.
All the huddles the Nexus guys are going into is reminding me of the Spirit Squad. Group hugs, pats on the toosh, and mutual body-oiling are on the cards.
Thankfully Orton Vs Usos/Shaemus/Miz, and the main event tag match saved the show for me.

Not one member of Nexus being eliminated. Now that is a push.
The tension in the Cena team is understandable booking as it's a team of heels and babyfaces.

Don't forget, one of the McMahon family credos over the years has been, in the words of Stephanie herself, "firing you would be too easy". |
