WWE SmackDown: (Airing Friday)
* Prior to the taping the ring crew places a black carpet in the ring with a casket.

* SmackDown opens with Kane in the middle of the ring with the casket. A video recap from last week is shown with Rey Mysterio earning the number one contendership. Kane says he sits by The Undertaker everyday waiting for him to awake. He said yesterday was the first time he moved his eyes and spoke. Kane says he only said two words; the name of the person who attacked him.

Kane said The Undertaker mumbled Rey Mysterio and anger raged through his body. He said Rey's name hangs in the air like a demon. He then asks why Rey would do it. Kane continues on saying that beating Rey at SummerSlam still wouldn't be enough. Kane says Rey must pay for his sins and experience what The Undertaker endured. The lights go out with Kane still in the ring.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a No Disqualification match is announced.

* Christian b. Drew McIntyre
- Christian counters a DDT and gets the win via pinfall.

* Layla vs. Tiffy for the WWE Women's Championship is announced for later tonight.

* Cody Rhodes gave his grooming tips. He was wearing a face mask. He said he's bringing us one step closer to being dashing.

* An Alberto Del Rio video package is shown.

* CM Punk is backstage asking the rest of the SES which one was going to let him down. He smells Serena's breath and tells her thanks for showing up sober. The then complains about Joey Mercury losing his mask and says none of them would be anything without him. He said if they don't actually do something to pack their bags.

* Big Show b. Luke Gallows
- Big Show gets the win via disqualification when he's attacked by SES. After the match CM Punk removes his sling to show that his arm is in good condition.

* WWE Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston b. Dolph Ziggler w/Vickie Guerrero via disqualification.
- Referees ended up having to restrain Kingston who was going crazy.

* Backstage, Jack Swagger says he doesn't have time for stupid questions. Swagger says he's going to beat up Rey, break his arms and throw him in the Gulf of Mexico.

* Vickie Guerrero announced Michelle McCool will replace Layla in a match against Tiffany. The match is still for the WWE Women's Championship.

* WWE Women's Champion Michelle McCool w/Layla b. Tiffany w/Kelly Kelly to retain.
- Layla interfered, allowing McCool to get the win. Teddy Long came out and said there only needs to be one Women's Champion and they can either decide for themselves or he'll decide for them next week. They argue to end the segment.

* Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger in a no-disqualification match ended in no contest
- They battled outside and Mysterio caused Swagger to fall into the water. Kane was outside and chokeslammed Rey into the water.

Dark Match Main Event:

* World Heavyweight Champion Kane b. Big Show in a Steel Cage Match to retain
- After the match, Rey Mysterio's music hit and he came out and fought with Kane. Mysterio ended up teaming with Big Show to take out Kane to end the show.

Lol at Rey attacking Taker. How could of he done it? Shooting him? Has to be a lie to swerve people off Kane being prime suspect. Unless its another Rikishi 'i did it.....for The Rock' kind of storyline.

No Matt/Christian beef this week? Eh?

When is Alberto Del Rio actually going to debut?

I hope the 'sort it out next week' stuff doesnt mean LayCool are heading on splitting up. They are the saving grace of the womens division currently.

A chokeslam into a river? If it was high enough off a bridge, then yeah, but reading the report......it sounds really cheesy.

They're making it blatantly obvious who attacked Taker. He'll appear at SS, Kane thinking he's come for RM, but he'll do Kane in giving Rey the win. Terrible.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Airing 6th August

*SmackDown opens with Rey Mysterio. Rey says he did not take out The Undertaker. Drew McIntyre comes out and says he’s going to take out Mysterio just like he did to Christian last week. Rey accepts Drew’s challenge for the main event.

*Cody Rhodes defeated Matt Hardy.

*A backstage segment with Layla, Michelle McCool and Teddy Long. Teddy demands they give up one of the belts and Michelle does. LayCool argues and break the other belt.

*Dolph Ziggler defeated Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. Ziggler got help from Vickie Guerrero in the match. Kofi attacks Dolph after the match and beats him up bad.

*CM Punk, Serena, Joey Mercury and Luke Gallows come out. Punk shows footage of them beating up Big Show last week and brags about it. Punk cuts a promo on his fellow SES members.

*Punk, Gallows and Mercury defeat the team of MVP, JTG and Chris Masters. Good match here with Gallows getting the win for his team.

*Teddy Long and Jack Swagger had a backstage segment. Swagger blamed all his troubles with Kane on Teddy. I think this may have been a segment for arena viewers only since they referenced the dark main event.

*Rey Mysterio defeated Drew McIntyre in the main event with a rollup. This was the best match for SmackDown of the night.

*After the match Kane comes down and there’s a casket. Rey escapes from Kane and says he didn’t take out Undertaker and reveals that Kane was the attacker. SmackDown ends with Kane staring up to the sky for a long time, crying or laughing to himself!

Awful.

Awful.

yup. just watched this. Awful is spot on. Kofi/Ziggler was good, but it was always clear Ziggler would win and it was just a repeat of last week. It begs the question even more why wasntthis done last week?

SD has gone epicly downhill since Edge and Jericho and JoMo left.

Smackdown results for August 20 episode

On the video screen, they hyped Kane's explanation for taking out The Undertaker later in the show.

Rey Mysterio led off the show with a promo, thanking the fans and saying he's relieved that his name was cleared. Rey was interrupted by Alberto Del Rio, who came to the ring and started insulting Rey, calling him a peasant among other things. Rey slapped Del Rio, then hit the 619. Del Rio just smiled as Rey went to the back.

The main event was announced: Mysterio vs. Del Rio in his debut on Smackdown. A vignette for Cody Rhodes aired.

(1) Kofi Kingston beat IC champion Dolph Ziggler via DQ when Vickie Guerrero interrupted. After the match, Vickie taunted Kofi to hit her, then Dolph attacked him from behind. Dolph beat down Kofi after the match, giving him a sleeper and stomping his head.

Lay-Cool had a promo dissing new Raw brand Women's champion Melina. Hornswoggle spied in the background.

Straight Edge Society had a promo with Luke Gallows, Serena, and Joey Mercury complaining about C.M. Punk. Punk came in and said that if Serena and Gallows didn't beat Big Show and Kelly Kelly, they would be eliminated from SES.

(2) Serena & Luke Gallows beat Kelly Kelly & Big Show when Serena pinned Kelly after a gutbuster. C.M. Punk hugged Serena after the match, pleased.

Kane had an extended promo with his explanation of attacking Undertaker, citing this as a 15-year plan to take out his brother. Very long promo, but well delivered.

(3) Christian beat Drew McIntryre with a roll-up. Cody Rhodes was out for commentary. After the match, Cody attacked Christian. Matt Hardy came out for the save, but he was destroyed by Drew and Cody. The crowd was dead for this.

Jack Swagger and MVP had a promo, jawing back and forth. Swagger challenged MVP to a match with a stipulation that if he wins, he gets to host the VIP Lounge.

Teddy Long told Kane backstage that he has it on good authority Undertaker will make his Smackdown return next week. Kane said it would be hell on earth for his brother.

(4) Alberto Del Rio beat Rey Mysterio via submission with an arm bar. Del Rio got his own Spanish ring announcer and elaborate ring entrance. He looked very impressive in his debut, but he's not using the stiff Mexican style he use in Mexico.

ALBERTO DEL RIO MADE REY MYSTERIO TAP THE FUCK OUT ON HIS DEBUT!!!!!!!

What a MASSIVE shock for his debut. Probably wasted though with it happening so soon.

Disapointing that Taker is back to time off for another week, but then it was "only" Smackdown not a PPV payday.

I am so right.  I claim my victory in the Alberto Del Rio stakes.  He is clearly awesome.  ARM BAR.  That is all.

Nice way to put Del Rio over strong in his debut, but why throw this match out on free TV?  Surely this match would have been a good PPV feud, which I think would have put him over stronger?

However, you could argue that it would have been predictable had it been on PPV.  Why would they debut someone on the PPV?  It wouldn't make much sense.  To put him on Smackdown and give him a shock win works a bit better IMHO.  It sets them up nicely for a hot feud, which will eventually be decided at a PPV.  It gives them something to argue over like this.  I like the idea as it makes Rey look fallible and vulnerable, which is always good.
